ABC DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION Direct supervisor: Southern New England Conference Treasurer MISSION: Adventist Book Centers are the established distribution and service centers for denominational publications, Sabbath School materials, audio visual aids, music, bibles, food and other items to serve the needs of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.


VISION: To be the go-to resource for spiritual growth, health, and Adventist teachings for church members and the community. We aim for Adventist Book Centers to provide easy access to materials that support the faith and values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, helping people grow in their relationship with God and live healthier lives. JOB SUMMARY

The Adventist Book Center Director is responsible for overseeing all operations of the Adventist Book Center. This includes product development and management of retail objectives, financial, marketing, and strategic operations, etc. This is a dynamic position that requires management experience, strong people skills, multi-tasking ability and good communication skills. The work is varied and is performed with limited supervision and performed essentially independently, referring problems, concerns, etc., to Conference Administration for help. The ABC Director will interact frequently with Pastors, local church leaders and institution administrators and employees, as well as non-church vendors. This person must exhibit exceptional skills in interpersonal relationships and project a professional Christian image.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Furnish monthly and yearly financial reports to the Conference office.

  • Prepare annual sales and operating budgets.

  • Maintain adequate saleable inventory, maintaining a good product mix, securing products with good marketability, consistent with denominational principles.

  • Responsible for hiring and supervising adequate staff to maintain daily operations in the ABC Ensure that Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables are kept current.

  • Attend all board meeting requested by Conference officials.

  • Attend annual ABC Marketing Seminars as scheduled by the Publishing Houses.

  • Provide a written report to the delegates of the regular constituency session of the Southern New England Conference, pertaining to the Adventist Book Center operations.

  • Oversee all local, online and media promotion and advertising.

  • Oversee all day-to-day operations in the ABC.


OTHER JOB DUTIES:

This job may include work in other areas of the organization, involvement in professional associations or perhaps work related to the broader mission and vision. Willingly performs other work related duties as may be assigned.

  • Receive correspondence from conference office and share with staff.

  • Communicate policy items to staff.

  • Comply with Federal & State Labor laws.

  • Manage set up displays at schools, churches, conference/special events and pop ups.

  • Serve as a member of the ABC Oversight Committee.

  • Ensure regular maintenance on all vehicles and equipment in collaboration with the SNEC Property Manager.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Evident good health; occupation requires standing, sitting, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending.

  • Must be able to lift up to 30-40 pounds.

  • Must possess and exhibit strong leadership and communication skills.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attending and setting up book and resource displays at conference events, such as camp meetings, retreats, and other gatherings.

  • Driving long distances to support churches, schools, or events as needed.

  • Willingness to travel on weekdays, weekends, and occasionally overnight to meet the needs of the ABC’s ministry.


SKILLS & EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Must be a Seventh-day Adventist member in regular standing.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Business/Management/Accounting is preferred. Related work experience will be considered.

  • Experience working in a retail environment.

  • Knowledge of principles, policies of the Southern New England Conference and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
