New Church Plant Impacts Leominster with Health Expo

Maria Valente

On August 27, Hope Community Church, the new Adventist church plant in Leominster, Massachusetts, offered a Health & Wellness Expo to discover the needs of their community and to bless them.

Expo visitors learned about the eight laws of health: sunshine, temperance, air, rest, trust, nutrition, exercise, and water.

Volunteers from the newly forming Southern New England Conference Health Ministry team provided hand and chair massages. Others provided a hydrotherapy demonstration, blood pressure checks, and BMI weight/height measurements. Volunteers talked about the importance of exercise in our daily routine and offered the step test used in many universities to evaluate the cardiovascular system. They performed the spirometry test, which assesses how well your lungs work by measuring how much air you can inhale, exhale, and how fast you can exhale. They also offered kid’s activities.

Those who visited the Expo also received prayer, magazines, books, and invitations to join a Bible study group called Kingdom Friends, which is part of the Church Plant Project from the Southern New England Conference.

The group was very grateful to receive the support of SNEC administration: the president, Bob Folkenberg, Jr., and his wife Audrey, who is the director of Stewardship | Planned Giving & Trust Services; vice president for Mission Development, Alex Palmeira; and Health Ministry coordinator, Tom Dombrowski.
