Child Protection

The Southern New England Conference is committed to providing safe worship and educational environments to help children and youth learn to love and follow Jesus Christ.

Our organization follows the safety guidelines set forth by the North American Division, which are listed in the Child Protection Policy (FB-20), and include the following:

  • Six-Month Waiting Period for New Volunteers

  • Training in Child Protection (through ASV)

  • Adult Screening and Background Checks (through ASV)

  • Worship Guidelines for Previous Sex Offenders Attending Church

​       ASV: Adventist Screening Verification is an online

        provider for online training and screening.

In addition we support individual state mandates on child reporting laws.

 

Please join us in all the steps we can take to keep our children safe in our ministry programs and prevent abuse in our churches, schools, and summer camp. 

 

Resources and training opportunities are available to equip and support families, volunteers, and employees in child protection.

All volunteers must complete the child protection training, referencing, and background screening process through Adventist Screening Verification (ASV).  â€‹

Training is available in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.

To select a training session in French or Portuguese, please contact the ASV customer service to manually assign this to your account. 

​

The English and Spanish selection is available to you in your account set-up.

Church Coordinator

Are you a new Church Child Protection Coordinator? Here are some steps to get you started.

​

  1. Complete child protection training and screening on the Adventist Screening Verification website (www.ncsrisk.org).

  2. Have your pastor fill and sign the Coordinator Designation form and send it to the conference.

​

Set up an individual training session by calling the conference office at 978-365-4551. Training sessions can be set up for a Zoom meeting and take approximately one hour. Please let us know if you need translation for the training session.
