Hispanic Camp Meeting: Yo Iré

Pastors' wives support and celebrate with Malu (Maria) Lache Sabater (center, in white), as her husband, Pastor Jorge Lache, was ordained at Hispanic Camp Meeting.

Southern New England Conference (SNEC) Hispanic Camp Meeting, from July 11 to 14, was blessed with excellent speakers, inspiring music from several different countries, and programming for all ages.   All worship and activities were infused with one theme:  Yo Iré (I Will Go).

Arnaldo Cruz, the director of communications and digital evangelism at the Southeastern Florida Conference and director and speaker of Jesus es la Victoria (Jesús is the Victory) ministry, presented the weekend messages.  With just as much evangelistic fervor, El Ministerio Matius (Matius Ministry) from the Dominican Republic, singer and song writer Kelvin Soto, and Sonidos de Zion (Sounds of Zion), a music ministry of the Barroso family from Cuba, performed music for the glory of God.

Attendees’ favorite highlights reflected the focus on mission. “I met a former Adventist who was here at camp meeting for the first time,” said Nery Otero, SNEC Adventist Community Services administrative assistant. “She was so impressed by how the event was taking place.  She wants to take Bible studies and re-connect with Jesus.”

“My friend Moises got baptized!” shared Joalexis de la Cruz from the New Britain Spanish church.

The Medical Cadet Corps circulated through Hispanic Camp Meeting like guardian angels, driving the golf cart transportation and providing first aid as needed.

Camp meeting attendees celebrated baptisms and the ordination of Jorge Lache, pastor of the Central Falls and Providence Spanish churches. At the ordination, under the leadership of Audrey Folkenberg, SNEC Ministerial Spouses Association sponsor, the pastors’ wives wore fascinators (decorative hats) in a congenial display of unity and support for Lache and his wife, Malu.

On Thursday, Friday, and Sabbath, camp meeting attendees were blessed with live presentations from SNEC’s new online Discipleship Institute (sneconline.org), a tool that provides resources with the objective of transforming church members into committed and productive disciples for Christ.

YOUTH HIGHLIGHT by Albert Prato

On Friday and Sabbath, more than 250 youth packed into the Ely Ortiz building to hear Joslen Lache, a pastor from Albuquerque, New Mexico, inspire them with the theme, “Go Testify; Leave Your Mark.” The main objective of this event was to inspire and motivate young people to have a positive impact on their communities, reflecting the transformative power of Christ in their lives. All the programming was led by young people from local Adventist churches, who showed their talents through music, Biblical exercises, prayer, and many other activities.

On Sabbath morning, the praise team from Lighthouse Church led worship with music and messages full of faith.  The service included prayer sessions, drama, Bible dynamics, giveaways and much more. Also, Pastor Lache shared a powerful spiritual message and twelve young people responded to his altar call. The event concluded with hope and a promise to meet again next year at Hispanic Camp Meeting, where young people can further strengthen their faith and share their talents to positively impact the world.
